Good workbook for Grammar

Seller did not send in time. Book was in New Jersey and I live in New Jersey it took more than 3 weeks to receive. Workbook is very useful. My son in Grade 4 uses Journey Text Book so it is good for practicing grammar, writing and reading. Grammar part in the workbook gives lot of examples. I would recommend for practice at home if you have access to Journey Text Book where original story are written.

What you must remember about Jonathan Barlow Gee is that he was never completely comfortable with anything. He was never completely comfortable with his surroundings, and was often found staring off into space, contemplating the unknown depths of his psyche. He was never completely comfortable with himself, and while his friends all matured themselves through social interaction, Jon remained quiet, aloof, and contemplative. He was outspoken, and often misunderstood, but he appeared largely directionless throughout most of his formative youth. He was never comfortable being punished or rewarded by teachers, and drifted through school, the archetype of the wanderer, studying religion and philosophy, the arts and the media, world politics and the ancient occult. You can see all of this reflected in his writing, but there is something more, something difficult to describe or define. It is at once a heavy gravitas that infuses his verse, and a blinding luminescence of faith in something he has found, within himself, in his wanderings. This is what he brings, and hopes to share with us. The ability to transform the weight of the world into energy. The more you doubt this young man, the more you will see as he sees all things.

A Triumph!

Are you tired of books with coherent writing, factual content and proper arrangement? Are you looking for over 500 pages of the insane ramblings of a schizophrenic so high on LSD he thinks he's found God? Do you want to read a book by a man who claims to be the last High Priest because he dropped 12 tabs and watched The Blair Witch Project? Then this book is for you! Includes loads of handwritten diagrams that explain nothing and plenty of fake maths, lofty arrogant and farcical claims by the author and sentences that run on much much longer than this one ever could. Also the writing is really bad and there's a lot of spelling mistakes.

Alexandra Y. Aikhenvald is Distinguished Professor, Australian Laureate Fellow, and Director of the Language and Culture Research Centre at James Cook University. She is a major authority on languages of the Arawak family, from northern Amazonia, and has written grammars of Bare (1995) and Warekena (1998), plus A Grammar of Tariana, from Northwest Amazonia (Cambridge University Press, 2003), in addition to essays on various typological and areal features of South American languages. Her other major publications, with OUP, include Language Contact in Amazonia (2002), Evidentiality (2004), The Manambu Language of East Sepik, Papua New Guinea, (2008), Imperatives and Commands (2010), and Languages of the Amazon (2012).

In addition to explaining how to write a grammar, this book is extremely useful as an introduction to the kids of grammatical categories found in languages around the world. It is clearly written, with tons of examples from all kinds of languages. I found it really interesting.

Can ignorance be bliss?

This author has a 'had' problem of which she is doubtless unaware. The past perfect is an important tense. If you want to speak and write English correctly, you will need to know what it is and how to use it. This author does not know what it is and how to use it..
The lady was born and raised in Russia and has dabbled in many languages around the world. Read the Wikipedia summary on her. Why would anyone accept the English grammar opinions of someone who is not native to English?
I know some French and some Spanish. Would I try to sell a French grammar text or a Spanish grammar text? Of COURSE not.
Buyer beware.

About the Author

Bob Stone was the cofounder and Chairman Emeritus of Stone & Adler, Inc., now a Young & Rubicam company. Completely outdated.

It was written before smartphones. As a marketer, you can draw a clear line between "marketing before smartphones" and "marketing after smartphones." This falls into the former. The information is technically correct, just completely outdated.

Good Overview of Traditional Direct Marketing

This is a good book for getting an overview of Direct Marketing. It
is, however, not up to date. From the time of the last publishing
(1996, 6th edition) there have been many changes in the world of
direct marketing. Some of the terminology is outdated, especially in
the chapter on creative writing. There is no mention of newer types
of direct marketing, i.e Loyalty Programs and the chapter on New Media
is thin, with scant info. on the internet. (This review refers to a previous edition of this title.)

About the Author

Eleanor J. Sullivan, PhD, RN, FAAN, is the former dean of the University of Kansas School of Nursing, past president of Sigma Theta Tau International, and editor of the Journal of Professional Nursing. She has served on the board of directors of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, testified before the U. S. Senate, served on a National Institutes of Health council, presented papers to international audiences, been quoted in Chicago Tribune,  St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and Rolling Stone Magazine, and named “Who’s Who in Health Care” by Kansas City Business Journal. She earned nursing degrees from St. Louis Community College, St. Louis University, and Southern Illinois University and holds a PhD from St. Louis University.

 

Dr. Sullivan is known for her publications in nursing, including this award-winning textbook, Effective Leadership & Management in Nursing, and Becoming Influential: A Guide for Nurses  from Prentice Hall. Other publications include Creating Nursing’s Future: Issues, Opportunities and Challenges and Nursing Care for Clients with Substance Abuse.

This is a required text but parts of it seem simplistic and other parts seem to offer advice on how to follow the letter of the law when dealing with employees. Definitely represents a corporate management view when addressing dealing with employees.

I had to purchase it as a requirement for a nursing course (management ta-da!) and was pleasantly surprised.
